‘I don't play an instrument myself, but I am a great music lover. I listen to NPO Klassiek a lot and go to concerts, with a preference for early music. When I'm in Vienna for work, I visit the opera on evenings without conference activities. The city offers a wealth of opera houses. My favorite is the Wiener Kammeroper, an atmospheric theater with an intimate setting.’

‘As a professor of tax law at Erasmus University Rotterdam, one of my research topics is taxation and arts and culture. For example, I once came across a French tax measure that makes it fiscally attractive for companies to purchase musical instruments and make them available to musicians. In the Netherlands, the Musical Instrument Foundation makes this possible, especially for private individuals. Multi-year support from private individuals through a periodic donation even receives additional tax support. Arranging such a periodic donation is very easy; the necessary form is available on the foundation’s website. I appreciate being able to contribute to a thriving musical scene together with others. In that sense, the foundation doesn't just benefit the musicians, but also the donors. Together, as a group, we have the opportunity to make a difference. Something I couldn't do alone.’
