Annelies: 'We both come from the museam world. That's where we have always been involved with eduational programs. Ton was the director of the Textielmuseum (textiles museum), which enabled him to help young artists develop themselves. And I was involved with children who grew up in poor environments, as I was the chair of Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Brabant (Youth Foundation for Sports and Culture, Brabant). When we were thinking about our legacy, we picked The Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation, among a few other charities.

Ton: 'I can totally imagine that young people who come into contact with classical music can be truly enchanted by it. I personally did not have any knowledge of classical music, unlike Annelies. Until I was embraced into her family and I wandered into a world unknown to me. I listened with admiration to Annelies' mother playing the piano. I gradually learned the power of music.'
