Jan Strumphler

Jan Strumphler was born in 1958 in Haarlem. In 1984, he moved to Newark-on-Trent to study at the renowned violin-making school. He graduated in 1987 and went on to work for bow maker Matthew Coltman in London, specializing in bow making.

Two years later (1989), he returned to the Netherlands and subsequently settled in Vleuten. Since then, he has been working in his own workshop there, crafting new bows as well as repairing and restoring them. Jan Strumphler is a member of the Dutch Association of Violin and Bow Makers (NGV).
