History of this instrument
Jan Strumphler built this double bass bow on commission from the Musical Instrument Fund. The Dijkverzwaring Foundation provided the financial support for this new-build project in 2000. Clemens van der Feen was the first lucky player to use the Vleuten bow. After him, it was Floris Mijwaard’s turn. The bow has also been loaned on a project basis to Jorge Hernández Hernández and Sasha Witteveen. Currently, the double bass bow is with César Puente.
