History of this instrument

In 2001, the Musical Instrument Fund commissioned Jan Strumphler of Vleuten to build this cello bow. Funding was made possible by a private donation. Anne Meike Burgel was the first lucky player to use the bow; she had it on loan for eight years. It then spent several years with Pieter de Koe, followed by Wilma de Bruijn, and subsequently passed to Ruben Veldhuyzen van Zanten and Rachel Daniels. Currently, Pippa Drijver is the lucky cellist who holds the Vleuten bow.
