In the last issue of the Magazine, we held a trivia quiz featuring questions about our instruments and bows, among other things, with a living room concert as the grand prize. The winner was Clementien Dieffenbach from Zaandam: “I was overwhelmed, because I received a wonderful, tailor-made concert that I was also able to share with all my friends.”
“The MuziekHaven, a rehearsal and concert space in the former Old Catholic church in Zaandam run by violinists Mathieu van Bellen and Maria Milstein, received a grand concert piano on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund last year (read more about it in this article, ed.). That seemed like the perfect location for my ‘living room concert,’ since I live right nearby. The foundation arranged for the concert to take place at that location and found the Brackman Trio willing to perform two piano trios, by Beethoven and Ravel, respectively.
At my request, the concert was also expanded to include John Cage’s 4’33” and Steve Reich’s *Clapping Music*. Neither piece had been performed by the Brackman Trio before, but they were kind enough to perform them—*Clapping Music* even together with the audience. All in all, it was a unique experience that my guests and I will not soon forget. I am therefore incredibly grateful to the foundation for this wonderful “à la carte” concert.”

With the help of the Musical Instrument Fund, this is possible. You can find more information about the terms and conditions and the compensation for musicians on this page:
