My name is Kalle de Bie, and I’m a cellist. I absolutely love performing with my ensembles, the Brackman Trio and the Marigold Piano Quartet! Since late 2023, I’ve been playing a beautiful cello on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund, built by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.
Starting in 2012, I first studied in Amsterdam with three fantastic teachers and then completed my studies in Vienna with Reinhard Latzko. After this inspiring time, I dove headfirst into the concert scene.
I love exploring the piano trio and piano quartet repertoire with my ensembles and sharing it with audiences in concert halls and at festivals. I also enjoy performing as a soloist and in other ensembles.
It’s truly special to spend your whole life immersed in the most beautiful music. There are always new colors and intensities to discover. To do this, you do need a voice. I am very grateful to the Music Instrument Fund for allowing me to play a beautiful cello by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.
The cello is incredibly versatile; it has great power, an incredible bass range, but also a clear upper register. The cello possesses warmth and flexibility, and sometimes a tone emerges that completely surprises me—an intensity I hadn’t experienced in that way before…
Be sure to check the concert calendar on my website so you can come hear the cello in person sometime.
