"Art is an essential part of human existence, the ultimate expression of our creative spirit. I can’t live a single day without art: without making or listening to music, reading literature, or reading or writing poetry."
Since 2020, the Musical Instrument Fund has loaned me a fantastic Steinway B. It’s a beautiful instrument from which I’ve learned an immense amount ever since I started playing it. It has a wonderfully refined tone and a rich variety of timbres.
It’s especially meaningful to me because the Musical Instrument Fund collaborates with Firma Andriessen. Frank Bonarius and his colleagues are exceptional technicians who are always ready to keep the grand piano in optimal condition. As a pianist, this is an important lesson: we must be demanding not only of ourselves but also of our instrument. The Musical Instrument Fund is a tremendous support in this regard!
Since graduating in 2017, I’ve been building a career as a chamber musician and soloist. My first solo CD featuring music by Prokofiev, *Geruchten*, will be released soon. I give solo recitals and participate in various competitions to challenge myself to take my development to the next level.
My ensembles:
I’ve been playing with clarinetist Jelmer de Moed for years. With him, I can rehearse endlessly and constantly strive for perfect ensemble playing and a shared interpretation.
I also recently joined (in 2020) the Brackman Trio alongside Tim Brackman and Kalle de Bie. Piano trios simply offer the most fantastic repertoire, especially for a pianist, because you constantly have such a large, virtuosic part to play. I couldn’t live without the piano trios by Brahms and Beethoven!
I also perform with violinist Coraline Groen. She’s a fantastic violinist with whom I’ve been collaborating for a long time.
