My name is Maartje van Assema, and I absolutely love playing a beautiful violin built by Willem Bouman.
My name is Maartje van Assema. I was born on September 15, 2002, in Haarlem. I’ve been playing the violin with great joy since I was eight years old.
Next year, I will be studying classical violin with Carla Leurs at the Utrecht Conservatory.
What I enjoy most about playing the violin is performing with other musicians. I have gained extensive experience in this regard, including with the Netherlands Youth String Orchestra conducted by Carel den Hertog and in various chamber music ensembles.
Since the summer of 2024, I have been playing a violin on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund. The instrument was built by Willem Bouman in 1988. This violin has a very expressive tone that allows you to truly tell a story.
