History of this instrument
This Steinway grand piano was donated to the Musical Instrument Fund by a private individual in 2021. The donor was a passionate amateur pianist who cherished the instrument and always had it meticulously maintained. He purchased the grand piano in 2006 after a long search during which he tried out many instruments and sought advice from a professional pianist. The grand piano also took center stage at the donor’s home during the house concerts he organized from time to time. On one such occasion, Nicolas van Poucke played the grand piano. Nicolas himself had long been on loan a grand piano from the Musical Instrument Fund. In 2021, the donor moved to a smaller home where there was no longer room for the Steinway grand piano. That was when he decided to give his cherished instrument a worthy home at the Music Instrument Fund. The first person to play it was Alexandre Lutz Garcia.
