change in the
instruments committee

At the end of September, we bid farewell to Maria Kuster as a member of the Instrument Committee. With thirteen years of loyal service, she has more than fulfilled her maximum term. Ying Lai Green has also stepped down from the committee due to her own application for an instrument from the Musical Instrument Fund. We welcome a new member: double bassist Servaas Jessen.

Indispensable

As a member of the committee, Maria Kuster played an indispensable role in evaluating countless applications, but above all in shaping the policy of the Musical Instrument Fund. We have come to know her as someone with razor-sharp hearing, a critical yet gentle demeanor, an immense knowledge of music, and a champion of innovation in the musical landscape.

Servaas Jessen

double bassist

Double bassist Servaas Jessen has recently joined the committee. As a double bassist with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and a faculty member at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Sweelinck Academy for Young Talent, he has firsthand knowledge of the realities of a musician’s life. His experience as a performing musician and teacher provides a valuable perspective when evaluating applications and advising on instruments.
