Noa Eyl
from Martin Leopold Widhalm

On Sunday, April 9, no fewer than four loan recipients from the Musical Instrument Fund participated in the National Finals of the Princess Christina Competition. At the Lucent Danstheater in The Hague, our young, talented loan recipients gave a stellar performance.
One of the youngest borrowers from the Musical Instrument Fund, 13-year-old Bas Jongen, won First Prize in Category 1 (ages 12 to 14). For the past year, Bas has been playing a cello on loan from the fund, built by Daniël Royé. He also won the audience and press awards.
In the same category, Nicolas van Poucke also won first prize. Nicolas has been a borrower from the Musical Instrument Fund for a week and will soon have a grand piano at his disposal.
Pianist Svatoslav Presnyakov (18 years old) won First Prize in Category 3 (conservatory/preparatory program). Svatoslav plays a Yamaha piano provided by the Musical Instrument Fund.
And finally: In Category 2 (ages 15–19), Noa Eyl, playing the 1783 Widhalm violin, won second prize.
This isn’t the first time that musicians supported by the Musical Instrument Fund have won first prizes at the Princess Christina Competition. In the past, first-prize winners included grant recipients Remy van Kesteren, Gwyneth Wentink, Godelieve Schrama, and Lavinia Meijer on the harp, Joris van den Berg and Johan van Iersel on the cello, Lisanne Soeterbroek, Laura Hendriks, Frederieke Saeijs, David van Dijk, Sonja van Beek, and Lisa Jacobs on the violin or viola, and pianists Bart van de Roer and Hannes Minnaar.
