I am a musician, composer, and artistic director of the Dutch Harp Festival. I began learning to play the harp at the age of 5, and after studying at the conservatories in Utrecht, Amsterdam, and Paris, I set out on my own path.
The dream I had—to become the Janine Jansen of the harp—ultimately turned out not to be mine, and once I had played most of the music written for the harp, I decided to start composing myself and discover my own musical language. I’ve been following that path ever since, and right now I’m working on a second album featuring my own compositions.
I am incredibly happy that the Music Instrument Fund chose to support my search for new artistic possibilities by embarking on a great adventure with me four years ago. I dreamed of a new harp with expanded capabilities: more strings, the ability to amplify the sound both acoustically and electrically, and equipped with a sustain pedal.
Thanks to the unwavering support of the Music Instrument Fund and the amazing harp builders at the Italian harp brand Salvi, that dream instrument has now become a reality: the Réus49. I’m currently exploring this new instrument—its possibilities and sound are immense!—and I hope to share the new music I’m writing for it with the public soon.
