The interplay between building new instruments and restoring old ones lies at the heart of Gudrun Kremeier’s work. She draws mutual inspiration from restoring historically valuable objects—thereby bringing their unique sound back to life—and from building new instruments. Gudrun Kremeier was born in 1968 on Lake Constance. She trained at the violin-making school in Mittenwald and subsequently worked for Vincent Loerakker and the Max Möller company. She has been employed at Andreas Post Amsterdam since 1995. In 2001, she passed her “Meisterprüfung.” Kremeier is regularly invited as a guest instructor for restoration workshops in England at The West Dean College in East Sussex. Every year, she participates in new instrument-making workshops in Oberlin, Ohio.
