History of this instrument

In late 2014, the Musical Instrument Fund was approached by a man who, along with his brother, had inherited his mother’s violin. Their mother, who had played the violin for nearly 70 years as a gifted amateur musician, had expressed her intention to bequeath the violin to the Musical Instrument Fund, but unfortunately never got around to carrying out that intention. After her passing, the sons decided to fulfill their mother’s wish by donating the violin to the Musical Instrument Fund. The final deed was signed in early 2015. With this, the Musical Instrument Fund added its first Ferdinando Gagliano to its collection. Emmy Storms was selected to be the first to play the violin.
