An anonymous violin, labeled “Ceruti.” The violin is part of the “Oskar Back Collection.”

History of this instrument

In 2009, the Oskar Back Study Fund (SOB) decided to transfer its entire collection of violins to the Musical Instrument Fund, so that musicians would have a single point of contact. Part of the SOB collection had been loaned by private individuals. The majority of those individuals agreed to transfer management of their instruments to the Musical Instrument Fund. The remaining part of the collection was owned by the SOB. Of those instruments, the SOB donated eleven violins to the Musical Instrument Fund, including this anonymous violin, which subsequently came into the possession of Merel Vercammen. Loes Dooren succeeded her for a time, and since 2013, Myrto Moraitou has been the fortunate player.
