grand piano

The Musical Instrument Fund purchased this grand piano in 2022, following an extensive selection day at the Steinway factory in Hamburg. There, they were able to choose from six new grand pianos of the same model (D 274 cm). For the fund, it would be the first Steinway-D in its collection. Many ears were listening during the selection process: Frits Schutte and Katrien Kloos from the Fund, pianists Nathalia Milstein and Omri Epstein, Mathieu van Bellen from the MuziekHaven, and piano experts Emil van Stormhoek and Frank Bonarius. The choice ultimately fell on the grand piano with the widest range of possibilities; it can be played with the damper pedal fully depressed, but it can also sound very intimate and continues to sing beautifully when played softly. The many concerts featuring top pianists, as well as CD and radio recordings at the MuziekHaven in Zaandam, call for a top-quality grand piano. The purchase was made possible by all of the fund’s benefactors.
