History of this instrument
The Musical Instrument Fund had a beautiful cello by Hendrik Woldring in its collection, dating from 2006. The cellist who played this instrument was so delighted with it that she asked if she could purchase it. Since Hendrik Woldring is a living luthier—and we can commission a new cello from him—we were able to make an exception for this cellist. She now owns the 2006 Woldring cello, and Hendrik Woldring has built this cello again for us, based on the same model by David Tecchler from 1703. Theodoor Heyning was the first player; the instrument is currently in the hands of Maria Nabeiro.
