Carla Leurs
from Giovanni Battista Guadagnini

From November 3 through 9, we’d like to reflect on the power of bequests to culture. It is incredibly valuable to nurture the future of culture and to connect future generations through music, visual arts, theater, or dance. During this Week of Bequests to Culture, various activities will take place for people of all ages. The Musical Instrument Fund is organizing two events, including a collaboration with the Holland Festival, the Stedelijk Museum, Foam, and the Van Gogh Museum.
On Tuesday evening, November 4, we’re joining forces with four wonderful cultural organizations: Holland Festival, Stedelijk Museum, Foam, and the Van Gogh Museum. We’ll bring together music, visual art, and inspiring stories to highlight the lasting impact of bequests to culture.
The program features various performances and activities by the participating organizations. During the first half hour, visitors can also view the exhibition Van Gogh and the Roulins: Finally Together Again.
When: Tuesday, November 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Van Gogh Museum (main entrance), Museumplein 6, Amsterdam
Violinist Carla Leurs will perform for the Musical Instrument Fund. She will play and talk about the beautiful violin, built by Guadagnini, which she has on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund. This violin was purchased with funds from the estate of singer Hans Zomer. We now affectionately refer to the violin as the Zomer violin.
Please let us know at by October 28 if you would like to attend the event. Register using the button below.
