Liesbeth Bosboom
from Andreas Grütter

By recording their debut CD, the talent development program “AVROTROS Klassiek presenteert!” gives young classical musicians a big boost at the start of their careers. This time, it’s clarinetist Gerbrich Meijer and the Felix Quartet’s turn. Two of the quartet members play instruments provided by the Musical Instrument Fund.
At the conservatory, musicians learn to master their instruments down to the finest detail and gain experience performing in front of an audience. But making a professional recording requires different techniques: hours of concentration and repetition to fine-tune the music, without the adrenaline rush of a hall full of people. Through the talent development program “AVROTROS Klassiek presents!,” the broadcaster offers the newest generation of classical musicians the opportunity to make beautiful musical recordings and perform on radio and TV. In the recording studio, these talented musicians record their first professional CD, and through the AVROTROS concert series and radio and TV programs, they gain media experience. This gives young classical musicians a significant boost at the start of their professional careers.
The debut CD by Gerbrich Meijer and the Felix Quartet will be released around Christmas. Two of the quartet members play instruments from the Musical Instrument Fund: Liesbeth Bosboom has a cello bow by Andreas Grütter (Amsterdam, 2005) on loan, and Michiel Wittink plays a Lotte viola bow (Paris, 20th century). In the past, they have also played a cello and a viola from the collection of Het Muziekinstrumentenfonds.
For just ten euros a year, you can support the talent development program and receive the exclusive talent CDs three times a year, along with a deluxe magazine. More information can be found here.
