Tjitte van den Bedem
cello
Hello, my name is Tjitte van den Bedem. I was born in 2002 and am studying classical cello at CODARTS Rotterdam under Jeroen den Herder. Since 2025, I have been on loan a beautiful instrument by Jaap Bolink from the Musical Instrument Fund.
In 2022, I completed my degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Utrecht University. I couldn’t bring myself to give up on a career in music, so I immediately began studying cello at the conservatory in Rotterdam with Jeroen den Herder.
My greatest passion in music is playing in orchestras. I’ve played in the VU Orchestra, the Netherlands Student Orchestra, and the Netherlands Youth Orchestra. Recently, I’ve been playing with the National Youth Orchestra. My biggest dream is to play in a professional orchestra, and I’m absolutely thrilled that the Musical Instrument Fund is helping me achieve this by lending me this powerful yet warm instrument.
