Violinist and dramaturg in Utrecht with an interest in all forms of art performed on stage.
I’ve been playing the violin since I was five. Actually, I wanted to play the violin when I was three, but I was still a little too young for that. In 2017, I graduated with a master’s degree in violin from the Tilburg Conservatory. My primary instructor was Chris Duindam, and I also took baroque violin lessons with Franc Polman. I also studied orchestral conducting with Arjan Tien and Etienne Siebens, and composition with Anthony Fiumara.
I play in various orchestras and ensembles, primarily with the Ars Musica Orchestra. I feel at home in both chamber music and orchestral performance, and I hope to continue combining the two.
In addition, I enjoy exploring other art forms and have studied English as well as theater, film, and literary studies. Since 2024, I have been happily working as a dramaturg at OPERA2DAY alongside my freelance work as an orchestral musician.
The violin I’ve had on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund since 2017 was built by Johannes Ernst Bachmann Jr. in 1904. It is a remarkable instrument: the soundbox is larger than that of an average violin, which gives it a very full and warm tone—almost like a viola. The Bachmann gives me opportunities for musical expression that I didn’t have with my previous violin, making it a pleasure to practice and make music every day.
