Roosje Reumkens-Dillingh
violin
Hello, I’m Roosje Reumkens-Dillingh, and I’ve been a violinist with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra since January 1, 2003. At first, I still played my own instrument. During my time at the conservatory, that trusty little instrument served me well, but it had its limitations. That’s why I was very happy when, in 2005, I was provided with an instrument from the Musical Instrument Fund. It was a violin labeled “composite Dom. Montagnana. The maker of this instrument is therefore unknown. In the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, a lot is demanded of you as an individual musician; your personal contribution and skill level must be high. With this instrument, that’s possible!
In addition, together with enthusiastic colleagues—each active in music in their own way—I have formed my own ensemble, Camerata Delft, and for larger projects (such as choir accompaniment), we join Collegium Delft. Together, we focus on early music, performed at unique and interesting venues. We believe it’s important to venture beyond the beaten path together with the audience, rather than simply following it. Imagination, energy, and inspiration are indispensable. “A new sound in early music”—I wouldn’t be able to bring this to life without the violin from the Musical Instrument Fund.
Together with a few musical friends, I’ve formed the band pAulfrAnk & friends, featuring vocals, guitar/banjo, keyboards (piano/accordion/melodica), double bass, and violin. The music we make could be categorized as Americana, singer-songwriter, or indie rock, but what matters most to us is creating music that touches people.
In 2021, I left the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra after nearly 20 wonderful seasons. As a freelancer, I can dedicate myself to both classical and popular music, as well as educational projects.
