Renée Timmer

cello, cello bow

My name is Renée Timmer, and I’m a cellist. I play in the ADAM Quartet and, as a freelance cellist, am part of various ensembles, orchestras, and other wonderful projects.

I started taking cello lessons from Alexandra Vierkant in Groningen when I was four years old. After graduating from high school, I began studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Maarten Mostert and Mick Stirling. With the ADAM Quartet, we studied at the Dutch String Quartet Academy under the guidance of Marc Danel. With the quartet, I perform in many concerts both at home and abroad, and I also have the privilege of participating in many wonderful projects with various ensembles and orchestras. I am very grateful to the Musical Instrument Fund for enabling me to use a beautiful bow and a well-suited instrument to explore the cello sound I’ve always dreamed of.
