Raphaella Engelsberg

violin

My name is Raphaella Engelsberg. I studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho until 2012, and I earned my master’s degree cum laude under Prof. Erich Höbarth at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. Now back in the Netherlands, I work as a freelancer with various orchestras and ensembles.

After having played a violin by the Voller Brothers on loan for three years and later having had the great pleasure of playing a 1797 violin by Joh. Cuypers, I now have the honor of playing a violin from around 1760 made by the father of the 1797 Cuypers: Johannes Theodorus Cuypers. Since I haven’t had to worry about any limitations of an instrument for years, it was thanks to the Musical Instrument Fund that I was able to get the most out of my studies and can now apply that to my work as a musician.
