Quinten van Brummen

violin

Hi! My name is Quinten van Brummen, and I was born on October 25, 2009.

When I was almost five years old, I loved the TV show “Maestro,” which my parents always recorded for me because I loved classical music. When I heard Vesko Eschkenazy play a solo on the show, I knew for sure that I wanted to play the violin. Soon after, I started taking violin lessons from Isabelle Doodhagen. I studied with her for over four years. In the summer of 2019, I began taking violin lessons from Chris Duindam, from whom I’m still learning a great deal every week.

My other great role models are Dominic Seldis, Vesko Eschkenazy, Itzhak Perlman, Janine Jansen, and Carla Leurs.

I practice the violin for a few hours every day, and playing the violin makes me very happy. Sometimes, when I play pieces by composers from the past, I feel a little as if I’ve been transported back to that composer’s time.

I’m absolutely thrilled with this violin and bow, which I’ve been playing since 2022. The fact that the violin is so old makes it extra special to me! When I played it, I felt that it suited me; I find the sound absolutely beautiful. I hope that with this violin and bow, I’ll learn a great deal and be able to give wonderful concerts.
