My name is Marie-Louise de Jong. I earned my bachelor’s degree under Marc Tooten in Maastricht, followed by a master’s degree and later a Konzertexamen/Meisterklasse under Prof. Wolfram Christ in Freiburg, which I completed with honors in June 2018.
I gained orchestral experience as concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and in various Dutch, Belgian, and German orchestras. I am also currently participating in the three-year chamber music program of the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation.
Since 2017, I have been the violist of the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam.
From 2016 to 2019, I had a beautiful Max Möller viola on loan from the Muziekinstrumentenfonds. Unfortunately, this instrument began to feel a bit too heavy physically, and I was also searching for a different tonal ideal that would better complement the other instruments from the Music Instrument Fund in the Dudok Quartet. In 2019, I was introduced to the J.B. Lefèbvre and realized after the very first rehearsal that this instrument was a perfect fit. I am therefore immensely grateful that the Music Instrument Fund was able to acquire this instrument in 2020 and that I am privileged to play it!
