violin
Laura Soeters has been playing the violin since she was five. She began her studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, first at PIVO and later at the School for Young Talent. There, she combined her VWO studies with violin lessons from Kerstin Hoelen, Koosje van Haeringen, and Janet Krause. In 2024, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Classical Violin at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Maria Milstein and Peter Brunt. She has also taken lessons with violinists Nicholas Wright, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Moshe Hammer, Ilona Sie Dhian Ho, Daniel Rowland, and Mathieu van Bellen.
In recent years, she has participated in many orchestral projects, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute, the Miami Music Festival, Opera by the Fjord in Norway, and the Mediterranean Opera Studio & Festival.
She has also attended masterclasses, such as the Aurora Music Festival in Sweden, the Peter the Great Festival, the International Music Masterclass in Cividale (Italy), and Stift Encounters.
In addition to solo performances, Laura also enjoys playing chamber music and with orchestras. For example, she reached the finals of the Gerle National Chamber Music Competition (2021) alongside pianist Jorian van Nee, and she was a founding member and second violinist of the Rijkskwartet. She has also been a member of the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra, and the VU Orchestra Amsterdam for several years. Since 2015, Laura has been playing a violin by Marten Cornelissen, on loan from the Het Muziekinstrumentenfonds, and using a Sartory bow, which she has on loan from the Gagliano Foundation.
