Julia Doornebosch
violin
Thanks to the Musical Instrument Fund, I play a beautiful violin, (probably) built in the early 20th century by an anonymous Italian luthier. The violin has a particularly beautiful, warm, almost viola-like tone that really appeals to me. I can produce a wide variety of timbres on this violin, and I’m very happy with it!
Julia Doornebosch, born on April 9, 1998, began taking violin lessons at the age of seven. She has never put the violin down since. During her time with the Haydn Youth String Orchestra—including two years as concertmaster—her dream of attending the conservatory began to take shape. In 2015, she was admitted to the Young Talents Class at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, studying under Veselina Manikova. Julia continued her bachelor’s degree with Veselina and graduated in June 2021 with a grade of 9, and was nominated by the conservatory as the recipient of the Andrea Elkenbracht Scholarship. She then studied in Rotterdam with Eva Stegeman.
Julia is currently studying in Sweden with Peter Herresthal.
