Joshua Hassler-Forest, cello
Joshua Hassler-Forest became captivated by the cello at a young age. He studied in the young musicians’ program at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen with Corine 't Hoen and at the Sweelinck Academy of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Maarten Mostert.
Joshua has won several prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, has participated multiple times in the Aurora Festival’s Summer Academy, and was selected for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s “Young” project in the summer of 2023. He has taken masterclasses with Jan-Ype Nota, Amparo Lacruz, Harro Ruijsenaars, Lucia Swarts, Dmitri Ferschtman, and Reinhard Latzko. Since September 2024, he has been studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Pieter Wispelwey’s class.
He takes great pleasure in playing a 2018 Daniël Royé cello provided to him by the Musical Instrument Fund.
