Inês Pais

violin

Hi! My name is Inês Pais (1998) and I’m from Portugal. I was introduced to classical music by my father when I was just four years old, and it was love at first sound. Not long after, I began playing the violin — and from that moment on, I knew there was nothing else I could see myself doing in life.

I’m a Portuguese violinist based in Amsterdam. I began my violin studies at the age of six with Ana Oliveira. Throughout the years, I joined several youth orchestras, including the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, which helped me build a strong foundation in Baroque, Classical, and Romantic traditions.

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Castelo Branco, Portugal, under the guidance of Augusto Trindade, and have performed as a soloist on several occasions, including at Teatro Municipal do Porto – Rivoli and FIMUV. My solo debut with orchestra took place in Paços de Brandão, Portugal, with the Orquestra de Jovens de Santa Maria da Feira.

In 2021, I moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Master’s degree in Performance at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where I studied with Pavel Fischer. Since then, I have collaborated with several leading Dutch orchestras—including the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Radio Philharmonisch Orkest, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Sinfonia Rotterdam, and Doelen Ensemble—working closely with both traditional and contemporary orchestral repertoire.

I’m equally passionate about orchestral and chamber music, and I strive for a versatile and expressive approach to performance.

I’m truly grateful to play on a violin generously provided by The Netherlands Musical Instrument Foundation, which supports and inspires my artistic journey every day.
