Hi!
My name is Hae Jin Park. I’ve been playing the violin since I was seven, and starting at age eight, the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam already felt a bit like my second home. When I was twelve, I encountered my first instrument from the Musical Instrument Fund—a magical moment with a beautiful Gofriller from 1700.
After completing my bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Ilya Grubert, Maria Milstein, and Elliot Lawson, I graduated and went on to study at the ZHdK in Zurich. There I pursued not one, but two master’s degrees: my first master’s with Rudolf Koelman, made possible by the Bernhard Cultuur Fonds, and then an orchestral master’s with Andreas Janke and Sasha Sitkovetsky—a deeply inspiring period during which I grew tremendously as an ensemble and orchestral musician.
Since this summer, I’ve been happily playing in the first violin section of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, where I discover new musical stories every week and am surrounded by wonderful colleagues.
One of the things that makes me happiest is playing chamber music—especially with my close friends and colleagues. For me, that’s where musicality, spontaneity, and friendship come together.
And here’s something else special: for the past four years, I’ve been playing a magnificent Panormo violin through the Musical Instrument Fund. To be honest, I’m a little in love with it (and that’s putting it mildly).
In addition to performing and studying, I give private lessons to young children. Their openness and sense of humor make every lesson unique and teach me a lot, too.
