I’ve had this double bass since February 2015 and am incredibly happy with it. Although I specialized in early music after completing my bachelor’s degree in 2016, I still use this instrument a lot, mainly for modern and contemporary music. It is an incredibly versatile instrument suitable for both solo performances and ensemble and orchestral work, and I feel very privileged to have this double bass at my disposal.
After completing my bachelor’s degree in double bass, I earned a master’s degree in early music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Since then, I have been working extensively with early music ensembles—for which I play different instruments—and I strive to combine my passions for modern music, early music, and historical performance practice.
On this double bass, I mainly play modern and contemporary music, such as the duos I perform with violinist Kirsti Apajalathi; from 2021 through 2023 with the Asko|Schönberg ensemble; or new music theater at the German Theater Pfütze.
