Ester Potjes
viola bow
My name is Ester Potjes, and I am a violist. For years now, I’ve been pursuing my path as a musician: from violin to viola, from preparatory studies to earning my master’s degree, through various countries (the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden), alongside countless inspiring people in various orchestras and ensembles. I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to gain so much experience, and I look forward to continuing to develop as a musician.
Throughout this journey, the Musical Instrument Fund has always supported me. I’ve had several instruments on loan: a violin built by Mathijs Heyligers (in 2017, during a tour with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, I even visited Mathijs at his workshop in Cremona!) and later a viola by Guust François. I now own my own viola, but I am very grateful that I am still able to use a fine viola bow, made by Andreas Grütter.
