Elise Besemer
violin
My name is Elise Besemer, and in addition to my job with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, I’m passionate about chamber music.
Since 2014, I’ve been the incredibly lucky owner of a beautiful Vuillaume. It’s unbelievable how much an instrument can come to mean to you. This violin has so much depth and warmth, not to mention an enormous range and a palette of colors. It’s a true all-rounder. When I played the solo during the finals of the Oskar Back Violin Competition, it gave me the power to rise above the orchestra. It also gives me the flexibility in chamber music to both blend in and take the lead. I’ve been a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since August 2019, and here, too, this instrument gives me exactly what I need. I look forward to all the musical adventures yet to come!
