Ekaterina Levental

harp

My name is Ekaterina Levental; I was born in Tashkent (Uzbekistan, a republic of the former Soviet Union) and have lived in the Netherlands since 1993. I began studying the harp in 1994 and have been able to play the Diana Salvi instrument since 2001, thanks to the Musical Instrument Fund.

The instrument was purchased at the time thanks to a donation from the Levi Lassen Foundation in The Hague. In 2017, I was able to trade in this Salvi Diana for a new Salvi Arianna, which I am very happy with. The instrument has a very beautiful and lyrical tone; it responds very easily and “empathically” to my musical intentions and helps me discover new phrasings through the richness of its sound. I am now a graduate harpist and opera singer; I perform frequently on the harp, as a vocalist, and both at the same time; I create my own performances and concerts; and I am on my way to realizing new dreams and ideals.
