Diana Fakour
violin, violin bow
My name is Diana Fakour (2005), and since 2024 I have had this beautiful instrument at my disposal, courtesy of the Musical Instrument Fund. I am currently studying with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
I started taking violin lessons with Vera de Vries at the age of six. When I was nine, I was admitted to the School for Young Talent, where I studied with Koosje van Haeringen. Later, I studied with Kerstin Hoelen and Jenna Sherry. Since 2022, I have been studying with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho and, in addition to my studies in Law at Leiden University, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Violin at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
I have participated in masterclasses both in the Netherlands and abroad with, among others, Stephan Picard, Yamei Yu, Kees Hulsmann, Theodora Geraets, and Arisa Fujita.
I have also participated in events such as the Aurora Festival in Groningen, l’Académie Musicale du Havre in France, the EuroArts Festival in Poland, and Verão Classico in Portugal.
Starting in 2020, I won first prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, including first prize in the West 1 regional final (twice, both as a soloist and with an ensemble) and second prize in the national final. In 2020, I won second prize in the Iordens B category of the Dutch Violin Competition. I also won prizes last summer at the Verão Classico festival. In addition, I’ve had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with exceptional orchestras, such as Domestica Rotterdam and Sinfonia Rotterdam, and I’ve appeared on the NPO programs “Podium Klassiek” and “De Zandtovenaar.”
Since 2024, I have been playing a beautiful Italian violin that has already brought me so much. A good instrument is incredibly important for a healthy development process. This violin meets all the requirements and, together with my bow, makes for a great match!
