My name is Charlotte Basalo Vazquez, and I’m a violinist. Making music allows me to connect with myself and others, which helps me create truly special moments during a concert.
In the summer of 2020, I graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Vera Beths. I completed my bachelor’s degree under Peter Brunt. I’m currently studying in Salzburg, where I’m pursuing a master’s degree in string quartet.
My greatest passion has always been playing together in all kinds of different ensembles. I’ve gained orchestral experience with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Residentie Orchestra, Phion, Philharmonie Zuidnederland, and Pynarello. Starting in September 2022, I’ll be joining the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra as a violinist!
I really enjoy being part of a group and performing beautiful symphonies together in the concert hall. I also really enjoy playing chamber music and sharing very intimate music with the audience. Together with my quartet, the Dostoevsky Quartet, I’ve been playing with great pleasure for many years; we give concerts at amazing venues and perform the most beautiful and intimate works from the string quartet repertoire.
Thanks to the National Musical Instrument Fund, I have the great pleasure of playing my Johannes Theodorus Cuypers, which I’ve had on loan since 2021. For me, this violin is a wonderful instrument for adding color to my playing, as it possesses both brightness and darker tones.
Theo and I have many more wonderful years ahead of us :)
And oh, be sure to check out my quartet’s website!
