Bente Torstensson
violin
Hello! My name is Bente, and since May 2025, I’ve been enjoying playing a Houniet violin from the Music Instrument Fund.
I started playing the violin at age 6 in elementary school. Soon after, I began taking private lessons with Clara François and started playing in youth orchestras. That’s where I discovered my love for making music with others. After two years of studying music at a Swedish folk high school following my high school graduation, I began a bachelor’s degree in classical violin at the Utrecht Conservatory in 2022, studying with Chris Duindam. Here, I play a lot of chamber music in various ensembles, and I’m a member of the National Youth Orchestra.
The Houniet violin has a very clear, projecting sound that inspires and supports me. I feel that the violin responds quickly to me and has a very layered sound. I look forward to discovering all the nuances of this beautiful instrument!
