My name is Anuschka Pedano, and I’m 25 years old.
I was only two years old when, completely captivated by Janine Jansen during the Prinsengracht Concert, I exclaimed with all my heart, “I want to do that too!” I had to wait a little while for my first violin lesson. But what a letdown that was! The violin sounded completely different from how I remembered it. ;-) To keep my enthusiasm going, my grandmother bought me a beautiful CD by Janine Jansen that included a bonus track: Bruch’s Viola Concerto. And that’s when I knew: the viola—that was my instrument! I immediately fell in love with the beautiful, dark tones of this instrument. I played that bonus track to death, and at age nine I made the switch and started my first viola lessons with Julia Dinerstein. I’m currently studying with Nobuko Imai and Francien Schatborn at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
I am therefore incredibly happy with the beautiful viola that I have on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund. This instrument is of French origin and has an excellent range and a very beautiful, distinctive sound, offering me the opportunity to develop and grow even further in my playing. Thank you, Musical Instrument Fund, for this musical opportunity!
