Annerieke Nentjes

violin

My name is Annerieke Nentjes, and I’ve been playing the violin since I was eight years old. Since 1996, I’ve been playing a violin from the Music Instrument Fund. At first, I played a Houniet violin, but since 2006 I’ve been playing a 1782 Johannes Cuypers violin, which I’m incredibly happy with.

The great thing about this violin is that it shines equally well in both chamber music and symphony orchestras. Thanks to its warm tone, it blends well with the ensemble. It’s not overpowering but carries very well, giving this violin soloistic qualities as well. I never really feel limited by this violin, and it definitely helps me be an all-around musician.

I have served as a substitute in various orchestras, including the Gelders Orkest, the Philharmonie Zuidnederland, and the Metropole Orkest. In addition, I play in various chamber orchestras, including the Naska, the Promenade Orkest, and Ars Musica. I don’t currently have a permanent ensemble, but I regularly perform chamber music concerts in various ensembles.
