Tis Marang

Tis Marang studied classical double bass at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg, and chamber music and historical performance practice at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He has participated in numerous concerts and recordings throughout Europe and the United States. He has taught classes and courses in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and at Harvard University (U.S.). In addition to his work as a classical musician, he is involved in a wide range of other musical genres, ranging from klezmer to jazz and from bluegrass to tango.

Since 1993, he has been working independently as a bow maker, specializing in the creation of historical models. In addition to making bows, Tis also builds bandoneons.
