I started studying the double bass when I was twelve. The following year, I couldn’t resist the temptation to take my own bass apart and see how it was constructed inside. Since I couldn’t put the instrument back together, I went to Gaetano Pareschi’s workshop—he was the violin maker working in Ferrara at the time.

I also had to take the conservatory’s double basses to him for repairs back then, so I spent a lot of time in his workshop and became fascinated by the craft. It was during those moments that I realized this would one day become my profession.

When I was 19, I graduated as a double bassist from the “Girolamo Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara and refined my technique under various teachers. After that, I devoted myself to my career as a musician and to teaching, but I did not neglect instrument restoration.

Partly thanks to the encouragement of my friend, master violin maker Alessandro Ciciliati, I decided to build my first double bass. After achieving a good result, the next step was to open my own workshop so I could devote myself exclusively to building and restoring stringed instruments.

Throughout my career as a violin maker, I have restored prestigious instruments by Italian masters from various periods, including the most important of all: the Gasparo da Salò (1590), which once belonged to Domenico Dragonetti.

Between 1999 and 2018, my instruments won several awards at major international violin-making competitions, and I served as a jury member on two occasions. I build my instruments according to my own design, following the tradition of Ferrara violin-making.
