After graduating from the Newark School of Violin Making in 1979, Koen Padding worked for eight years as a restorer for various European workshops, which allowed him to study countless examples of the great Italian luthiers’ work. At the same time, he served as technical director of a printing ink manufacturer. In 1997, Padding founded the company “Magister Varnish Products.” Thanks to the combination of his knowledge of varnishes with his passion for stringed instruments and historical techniques, his company became a leader in the field of classical violin varnishes.
