Keith Sleeman

Keith Howard Sleeman was born in London in 1955. There, at the age of 16, he began making canes under the guidance of former Hill & Sons cane maker Malcolm Taylor (1934–2012). Keith has spent a great deal of time studying antique French canes and applies this knowledge to his own work. In addition to making exact replicas, he has also designed his own model, drawing inspiration from Voirin, Lamy, and Fétique.

In addition to building new canes, Keith Sleeman specializes in restoration, particularly in the bending of antique canes. He runs a workshop where, in addition to his own new construction and restoration work, he also crafts canes for musicians on a limited budget. For Keith, passing on knowledge is an important aspect of the craft. He shares this knowledge internationally through lectures, exhibitions, and courses.
