History of this instrument
This violin, built by Enrico Marchetti in Turin, was donated to us by a private individual in 2024. The instrument was originally purchased by Het Gelders Orkest for Arie van Beek, who was then the leader of the second violins. Herman Krebbers, the concertmaster of Het Gelders Orkest at the time, was also involved in selecting the violin. In 1976, the violin came into the possession of the donor, a physician and amateur violinist. He played this instrument throughout his working life in various musical ensembles. When he stopped playing actively, he wanted the violin to be played again by a young or professional musician. Quintijn van Heek is the first lucky person to play this Turin-made instrument since it was donated to the Musical Instrument Fund.
