History of this instrument

This violin was purchased by the Musical Instrument Fund in 2002 from a German dealer. It is the only violin in our collection made by the eldest son of Johannes Theodorus Cuypers. The original label is quite unique. The violin was first loaned to Inge Laurijssens and Maartje Hetsen. Mintje van Lier played the violin from 2006 onward, Marije Johnston from 2019 onward, and Cecilia Ziano from 2023 onward. The violin is now in the possession of Irene Piazza.
