built in Heemstede in 2000

A Baroque violin bow, made by Gerhard Landwehr in Heemstede, 2000. Round handle made of letterwood, with a slip-on ferrule.

History of this instrument

In 2000, the Musical Instrument Fund commissioned Gerhard Landwehr to build this Baroque violin bow. The Dijkverzwaring Foundation made this new construction project possible. Since then, many violinists have played with the bow; Hanneke Wierenga was the first, followed by David Verbakel, Marta Mayoral González, and Eline Snoek. Today, the bow is also loaned out on a project basis; Dasha Serck and Jurrien Loman recently performed with it.
