Anoniem

built in London in ± 1840

An anonymous cello, built in London, first half of the 19th century.

History of this instrument

This cello was purchased in 1991 by the Musical Instrument Fund from a Dutch private collector. Although experts lack sufficient evidence to attribute the cello with certainty to a specific maker, it is clear that this is a remarkable English cello, built in London in the first half of the 19th century. The cello was successively loaned to Maarten Jansen, Corien Kok, and Inge Grevink. Since 2000, the cello has been played by Annie Tångberg. As of 2018, the cello is in the possession of Simon Velthuis.
