On November 10, 2013, 25 talented violinists and cellists aged 6 to 19 will perform in the Ridderzaal. They will all be playing instruments provided by the Musical Instrument Fund. The performance will take place in the presence of the fund’s patron, His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn, and his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien. This will be the first time the Fancy Fiddlers have performed in the Ridderzaal.
Ex-Fancy Fiddlers
Together with “former Fancy Fiddlers” (including Janine Jansen, who “grew up” in this club), they will perform the anniversary program put together in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Musical Instrument Fund. The highlight of the concert will be a performance of Vivaldi’s “Winter” from *The Four Seasons* by the highly talented 12-year-old violinist Noa Wildschut.
Together, these young talents form the Fancy Fiddlers, a string ensemble under the supervision of Hilversum-based violin teacher Coosje Wijzenbeek, a household name in the Dutch classical music world. The violinists travel from all over the country to Hilversum every week for their lessons and are accustomed to performing frequently—and at a high level. And they do so without sheet music and while standing! Something you don’t often see in the classical music world.
A Special Collection
The Musical Instrument Fund, with a collection currently valued at over €27 million, is the Fancy Fiddlers’ preferred supplier of instruments. Many of the Fiddlers play or have played an instrument from the Musical Instrument Fund’s exceptional collection.
Noa Wildschut
The highlight of the concert will be the performance of Vivaldi’s Winter from The Four Seasons, by the exceptionally talented violinist Noa Wildschut (age 12). Noa recently acquired a magnificent violin from the Musical Instrument Fund. It is a violin built by Giovanni Battista Grancino in Milan in 1714. For Noa, who is regarded as the violinist of the future, it is (just as it is for all other musicians) of the utmost importance that she plays an instrument that allows her to fully realize her great talent. In the nearly 300-year-old Grancino violin, the 12-year-old violinist has found her ideal partner in that regard.
